Who is

Jeanette Prather?

A Talented Writer

Jeanette got her bachelor's degree in journalism, French, international studies and dance at California State University, Long Beach in 2007. From there, she was accepted as an intern at Dance magazine, and shortly after that was hired as the copy editor (and then later the production editor) at Movmnt Magazine. During this time, Jeanette traveled the world while writing two books that were published in 2009; "Vital Energy” and Flicker. After her move back stateside, she freelanced intermittently for Beautiful/Decay, Ehow, E.L.M., L.A. Splash, Move, Suite 101 and Valley Scene magazines.

During her collegiate years, Jeanette was the managing editor for the campus magazine, DIG, while DJing a radio show on campus called L’Ambiance under the alias Jazzerina Jaye. Prior, she spent a busy year writing, dancing and soul-searching in Aix-en-Provence, France where she published articles in French for IEFEEXpress and Ladies Room magazines.

Before Europe and in her earlier collegiate years, Jeanette was the city editor for CSULB's newspaper, The Daily Forty-Niner, as well as an intern at Fox News Channel in L.A.

Upon returning to her home town Santa Cruz in California circa 2012, she continued to blog professionally while simultaneously writing for Voltare, Santa Cruz Style, edible, and Growing Up in Santa Cruz magazines. During this time, Jeanette discovered her love for musical theatre script writing, and has since written, published and produced six original musicals in Santa Cruz. She also published her 3rd book, Alpha Phoenix, at the end of 2016.

In 2018, Jeanette became the marketing and communications consultant at the Santa Cruz Children's Museum of Discovery, as well as continued helping the local performance art community write copy for various projects including press releases, marketing collateral, enews content, social media posts, and grants.

Jeanette began forging her backgrounds in storytelling and performance art together in real ways come 2019, but when the world shut down in 2020, she decided to complete her 4th book, which would end up serving as the second in a trilogy between Flicker and Alpha Phoenix.

With high hopes for the early 2020 decade, Jeanette is thrilled to re-launch Stellaria Creative Company with a more inclusive storytelling approach that hybrids literary and performance arts within a visceral, interactive arena.
